"...easy, fluid readability factor. I didn't want to put the book down, and it was immensely enjoyable.” MotherLode blog

The lives of two strangers become inextricably entangled when they each sign up for a dinner dating agency. Greg's reason for joining has nothing to do with looking for love. His recently divorced sister has disappeared and he’s convinced that the agency, or at least one of its clients, may be responsible.

Neither is Megan looking for love. Although single, she only joined at her best friend’s insistence—then her friend disappears without a trace. When a client of the dating agency is murdered, suspicion falls on several of the members and Megan and Greg join forces.

Will Megan and Greg solve the mystery, or are they about to step into the same inescapable snare?

Fatal Liaison Mystery edition by Vicki Tyley Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks

"Fatal Liaison" sounded interesting, but it fell short of my expectations. It wasn't a bad book, but neither was it a good book.

I couldn't get invested in the characters. Most were unlikeable, and all of them seemed one-dimensional and flat. The heroine seemed immature, dull, and slightly obnoxious. The hero was better, but still not very interesting. As I read the dialogue and thoughts of various characters, they kept playing in my mind as a monotone, with no one exhibiting any real passion. The action and suspense were dull, and too much time was spent describing food and drinks, which did nothing to build atmosphere or further the plot. I had to force myself to finish reading this book. It just did not hold my interest.

"Fatal Liaison" received a lot of positive reviews, so obviously a number of people disagree with my opinion of the book. The author wrote well in terms of the mechanics. Grammar, spelling, vocabulary, etc. were good and relatively free of mistakes. My review is based on my personal response to the book, and that is subjective. As I said, it is not a bad book, but it did not appeal to me.

Fatal Liaison Mystery edition by Vicki Tyley Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

Fatal Liaison was an interesting mystery/suspense story. The story held my interest throughout the book. With my busy schedule, I was glad it was fast paced. The murderer turned out to be someone I suspected early on but later in the story suspected someone
else. As for the reason Brenda was abducted, that was something else! I rate this book four stars.

Fatal Liaison was a really good story with a twist or two along the way. All the characters were individuals in their own right and had something within their character to keep you guessing as to whether or not they could be the culprit or just needed understanding. I would be interested in reading more books by Vicki Tyley in the future as they are light and keep your interest right to the end.
This is my second read by this author and it is not my last!
I already have book 3 of Vicki's waiting to be started!
Her characters are real. You know them. You start to think like them.
You feel for them. You hurt right along with them.
Her endings are a twist you never expect. If you can figure out "who did it" before the last page in any of her books, then please let me know.
But I am sure I will not hear from you because her books keep you guessing and take you by surprise!
Vicki, keep up,the superior writing!
You are definitely a new 'favorite' author of mine!!!
This book was different than most mysteries as the main characters had no investigative experience and frankly didn't seem to have much of a knack for investigating. The female main Character, Maggie, just seemed to barge into things and then start regretting it immediately. However, she never seemed to learn her lesson. I felt like the grief sections went a little overboard, but then I have never lost a family member or friend to violence. The male main character didn't seem to have many ideas of his own, but he is such a good guy one can't help but like him. This is a good book and I recommend it for entertaining reading.
I downloaded Bitter Nothings and Fatal Liaison at the same time. Having been quite disappointed with Bitter Nothings (which I read first), I nearly deleted this without reading it. Although there is once again a central character who is rather underdeveloped and at times one dimensional, this plot is better constructed. Using a Dinner Dating Agency as the focus for the plot allowed Ms Tyley to create some interesting situations and characters. Although the writer does have a tendency to strain plausibility (e.g. the behaviour and obsessions with the organiser of the dinner dating agency), on the whole the storyline was more interesting and entertaining.
Fatal Liaison was a fair-to-good mystery. It started off a little slowly, then picked up the pace. The plot line wasn't terrifically original and the plot development was rather thin. The characters were a little flat, but ok, and the protagonists were likable. The sleuthing was ok, too, with a mix of good ideas and good luck. Once or twice I became a little annoyed with the characters' semi-stupid actions. The police were of very little help in solving the mystery-- just providing some background nuisance.

I found myself guessing some of the plot developments before they occurred; two were especially obvious. The book held my interest (though it was a close call until I got past 20%). The ending was satisfying, though a little too neat. Writing style was good. Profanity and sex were kept to a moderate level.

Overall, I'd recommend it as a quick, light read, unless you want to hold out for something more sophisticated.
Well-written and well-told, with colourful characters and finely drawn scenes, this is a book that will entertain you and immerse you in the challenging issues facing the headstrong Megan Brighton.
What are the mysteries surrounding the Dinner for Twelve dining date? Charming bachelor, Greg Jenkins also has some questions about this singles dining group, too. His sister, Samantha has been out of contact for some days now and Greg is getting quite worried about her.
Megan's close friend Brenda goes missing after the dinner and Megan is becoming anxious for her, as well. What is the deal with this Lawson Green character?
The situation develops at a fast pace and it is becoming clear that our two main characters must increase their individual efforts for the Police to take seriously their concerns.
This is a story about urban Melbourne today and the painful mental disease, called Bipolar, that we live with today in far too much of our population.
Once again Vicki Tyley has written a tight, suspenseful mystery that keeps the pages turning right to the very end.
